-Notes: Mandrills are the world's largest simian species with adult males achieving weights of 120 pounds. Male mandrills are also arguably the most colorful of all primates. They have a bright red stripe running down the middle of their muzzle and winding around both nostrils, reddish-colored fur above both eyes, and a jaunty yellow beard. The sides of their muzzle are strongly ridged and colored a bright blue. Their hairless rump ranges from a bright blue to purple. A male mandrill will assemble a harem of females over which he will maintain exclusive breeding rights. Male mandrills are also notable for their impressive 2 to 3 inch long canine teeth.
